Which AI music generators allow commercial use?
Depends
Only on the right plan. Suno needs Pro or Premier, AIVA's free tier is non-commercial, Mubert needs Pro or Business, and Udio's current terms bar all commercial use. ElevenLabs Music allows some commercial use on every plan, but free tracks can't be downloaded and streaming distribution needs Creator or above.

Quick answers
Can you make money with AI music?
Yes, on a plan that allows it and within each platform's rules. Spotify and DistroKid accept AI music but bar unauthorised voice impersonation and mass-uploaded spam. DistroKid also needs you to own 100% of the rights.
Is AI music royalty free?
Not by default. Each tool licenses or assigns rights by plan. Suno assigns its rights to Pro and Premier users, AIVA gives you full copyright only on Pro, and Soundraw keeps the rights and licenses use by plan.
Is there a free AI music generator for commercial use?
Among the music tools we track, no free plan clearly allows full commercial use. ElevenLabs Music's free plan allows some commercial use, but you can't download tracks or put them on streaming services, and you have to credit Eleven Music.
Can you copyright AI music?
Not music that AI generated on its own, in the US. Lyrics you wrote and parts you performed can be protected.

Platform rules
Spotify
AI disclosure: Spotify announced AI disclosures via industry-standard credits (Sep 2025).
- Vocal impersonation (e.g. AI voice clones) only with the impersonated artist's authorisation.
- No synthetic media presented as authentic in harmful ways.
- Spam-style mass uploads are filtered and not recommended.
DistroKid
AI disclosure: No separate AI label stated in the article; releases must meet each streaming service's guidelines.
- You must own 100% of the rights, including the right to distribute AI-made music.
- No mimicking someone's voice, likeness or identity without permission.
- No mass-generated spam made to game streaming algorithms.
- Streaming services may still reject or remove releases.
YouTube
AI disclosure: Required for realistic AI-generated or meaningfully altered content, for AI-generated music, and for AI music that's the main focus of a video. You tick 'AI use' in YouTube Studio when you upload. YouTube says the label alone won't limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money.
- Mass-produced, template-like AI content is not eligible for monetization (inauthentic content policy).
- Using AI to help tell an original story or visualise your own character is given as an acceptable example.
- Realistic AI-generated or altered content must be disclosed during upload; non-realistic or minor edits don't need it.
- AI-generated music must be disclosed, and so must AI music that's the main focus of a video. It can be fully or partly made with AI.
- Disclosing AI on its own won't limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn money, according to YouTube.
- Not disclosing can lead to YouTube adding the label itself, removing content or suspending you from the YouTube Partner Program if you keep skipping it.
